Structure of Sustainable Governance
To be a socially responsible corporation, Taiwan Secom has set up the “Corporate Social Responsibility Committee” under the Board of Directors in 2013. It is currently chaired by CEO Onodera.
Executive Chairman Li Jung-Kui, General Manager Hsu Lan-Ying, and General Manager Hung Pei-Hsu serve as vice-chairmen. Taiwan Secom has also arranged for senior executives to serve as the leaders for the committee, to be jointly responsible for managing the annual corporate social responsibility goals and action plans, and to regularly review the results of promotional activities.
To keep in line with international development trends and the goal of achieving sustainable development, the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of Taiwan Secom was renamed the Sustainable Development Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee for Sustainability) in 2022, which was adopted by the Board of Directors on March 15th.
The direction carried forward in 2021 included the three major areas: "operating management," "social care," and "low-carbon innovation," which are divided into the five major aspects of "corporate governance," "social participation," "employee care," "green energy & environment protection" and "innovative services," to show stakeholders the positive actions undertaken for sustainable development.
Sustainability of Operations
The business scope of Taiwan Secom Company Ltd. also includes food (TransAsia Catering Services, Living Plus Food & Beverage), medicine (Lee Way Co., Ltd.), accommodation (Taiwan Secom Mugen+), transportation (Goldsun Express & Logistics), etc. The total number of customers served was close to 500,000 with a production value of close to 15 billion NTD In 2021, the consolidated revenue of the Group exceeded 14.1 billion NTD reaching a new high since 2017.
Looking to this year, the important subjects in the Group's blueprint for development are as follows:
I. Internet of Things (IoT)-based Innovative Services
In the areas of service for IoT-based technological security and life at home, the IoT-centered Taiwan Secom Mugen+ system has been integrated with its services.
After adding more AI products and functions, the number of accounts subscribed has increased by more than 25% each year for the past three years.
Taiwan Secom Mugen+ utilizes a technology system that replaces the "Cloud Guard" Solutions that is focused on night shift security guards, has been implemented on more than 1,000 projects, and won the Future Commerce Awards from Business Next.The G.Life app platform from Epic Tech, a new software company established in 2020, was launched and went online in May 2021.
Through this platform, customers can achieve "managing matters in community with one finger", This app not only helps streaming big data gathered on existing customers and community residents and consumer behavior analysis, it also further enhances the development of business opportunity and customer stickiness. As the IoT environment matures, it will open up more areas of services with more possibilities and gradually evolve toward playing a vital role for an intelligent and integrated security service provider.
II. Smart Cities
In terms of the business development for "smart cities" in 2021, 11 smart city solutions were set up in Kaohsiung City Government for vehicle identification, monitoring the flow of traffic and people, and air quality monitoring, which not only received recognition by Kaohsiung City Government, but also attracted the attention of other counties.
The smart city will set up the dynamics for the next wave of growth in the industry. Subsidiary Brightron Mechatronics also actively undertook the electromechanical turnkey project, providing an integrated solution with "electromechanics, light currents, and fire extinguishing" to work in tandem with the development of the smart city.
Relevant subsidiaries of the Group, from site management to the catering business, taken part in the smart city project, recreating a new blue sea as related operations are expected to grow significantly.
III. Domain of Dining Businesses
This year, TransAsia Catering Services, renowned for its bakery products, has begun to transform from producing airline cuisine to providing a diversified operation that includes OEM and ODM services.
The Soup Spoon, a popular soup brand from Singapore operated by the Group, has 5 restaurants in northern Taiwan.
The Group's homegrown food and beverage brand, C-Kitchen by Fuk, specializes in charcoal-grilled dishes dishes with fine beer and is expected to continue to expand its operations this year.
Taiwan Secom Group continues to actively diversify its operations.
While its operating model still adheres to professional safety, disaster prevention, and monitoring, its development has expanded has expanded to smart cities and smart households.
Through technology and food safety considerations, it has expanded its sales channels and has even become part of the services offered by smart care and smart community.
