Compassion is the force driving the positive development of society. For more than two decades, the Taiwan Secom Cultural and Educational Foundation has continued to embrace people and commit to the sustainability of the environment and concern for socially vulnerable groups. We hope the belief of virtue among people can been couraged so that concern for society can be carried on.
Advocacy for a Sustainable Environment Head Outdoors and See Taiwan
The Taiwan Secom Cultural and Educational Foundation held “Nature Classrooms” in 1998 to encourage ecological education and care about the natural environment in Taiwan. Scholars and experts were invited to hold lectures during field trips across Taiwan. In addition, the Foundation also encourages Group employees to recycle resources and classify waste, thus promoting the recycling and reuse of resources.
Support for Academically Under-Achieving and Disadvantaged Students thru Development Classrooms
Modern education emphasizes cultivating a worldview from an early age so that students can smoothly transition towards internationalization in the future. For this reason, the Taiwan Secom Cultural and Educational Foundation places special emphasis on English education. English after school tutoring courses are offered for students from disadvantaged families according to students’ grade levels. Full-time teachers are hired to teach these students by using a practical everyday approach to use English conversation in their everyday life and fully induce their interest in learning English.
To give back to rural communities, the Taiwan Secom Cultural and Educational Foundation holds after-school tutoring classes in Yuanshan, Yilan, to provide remedial tutoring for students falling behind in their academics. The Foundation hires professional teachers and they are committed to closing the gap between urban-rural education so that educational resources can be distributed more equally.
